In the new school year 2019/2020, the Middle School basketball season began. Many girls and boys tried out for the MRISA team on the 27th of August, and some got into the team and other came in the best team ever: THE FESTIVAL TEAM!!!! Every girl and boy which didn’t made it on the MRISA team joined the Festival Team to improve their skills and to find new friends. It was so much fun to improve the skills and play games against each other or against other schools.
After we had our first matches at UNIS, we wanted to improve and learn new strategies to fight for the UNIS Festival Team and play even better. After we had our second match at Concordia, we were much more comfortable in playing and applying our learned skills.
After several weeks of training, exercising, and a little break of holidays, we actually had a game at BIS, but it was cancelled. Everyone on the team was disappointed and nobody could understand why. Our last training was coming soon, and we decided to make a short practice on Thursday and end with a big PIZZA PARTY!!!!!!!! After this nice evening, we saw our last big tournament on Saturday at BIS. At the tournament we played in total 25 games of basketball!
It was very fun to play and cheer for each other and look at what skills other schools have. The important thing of the whole season were the Coaches. Coach Shannon and Coach Coleman were the best basketball coaches we ever had. They showed us skills and tricks about how to beat the other schools, and they cheered us up when we had problems. If we had other things we had to do, they let us do them because they believed in balance. It was the best thing I’ve ever experienced. So thank YOU coaches for being our coaches and helping us improve the skills we never had before. And I am very sad to say that this season of MRISA and Festival Basketball in the MS is now over. Thanks to all the coaches that supported the girls and boys in this wonderful season of basketball.
The last thing I want to say is: GO PHOENIX!
I hope every boy and girl in 6,7and 8 grade try out for next year’s teams.
