Thank You! Over USD12,000 Raised for Charities

On Tuesday, May 5 (Giving Tuesday), the UNIS Hanoi community rallied together to take action and raise much needed funds to help feed and shelter Vietnam’s most vulnerable citizens.

Members of our community, young and old, took part in a virtual walkathon, a sponsored head shave and marathon thank you card project to write to health workers on the front line here in Vietnam.

As a result of collective efforts, almost USD13,000 was raised and money is still pouring in! The funds will be shared with the School’s Learning Service partners – Blue Dragon, KOTO, Blossom House and the Huong La Centre – as part of the School’s Emergency Relief Fund.

There’s still time to make a donation online (click here). Or students can bring in envelopes with their sponsored collections next week and the Advancement team will collect them from the Homerooms.

UNIS Hanoi Supports Kindness is Contagious Campaign

And our philanthropy doesn’t stop here! Viet Nam’s Ministry of Health, together with UNICEF Viet Nam has launched the Kindness is Contagious campaign, which UNIS Hanoi is supporting wholeheartedly.

The media campaign calls on adolescents and young people to be kind, tolerant and optimistic in the fight against COVID-19. Click here to learn more.

Haruka’s Teaspoon of Change

Haruka, a 7th grader, took the initiative on her own to knit and sell items at the Winter Fair. She raised over 2 million VND for Blue Dragon.

Haruka approached Ms Kimberly Yash and Mr Colin Campbell to get things in motion, but it was 100% her idea, planning, time, and empathy that led to this great result. Her products were so popular that she had to take orders, and now has some loyal customers!

Leading by example and proving that you can make a difference on your own, Haruka has truly showed the learner profile of caring and is being the change we want to see in the world.
