Enjoy your Winter Break – Week B when we return

Enjoy the break!

Dear Parents,

We wish you all a safe and wonderful winter break. Enjoy yourselves whether you are traveling or staying in Hanoi.

All the best,

Daniel and Ha

Possible connections to learning for over the break:

  • Where We Are In Place and Time (Exploration)
For several weeks, students in grade two have been inquiring into the central idea: We explore to discover and understand our world.
“Exploration” can take place in another city, another country or even right here in Hanoi.
Some areas to think about or talk about over the break are:
    – What did you need to pack?
Where did you go? What transportation did you take?
    – What interesting discoveries did you make? (landmarks, natural wonders, sights, food,
      culture)
    – How has travel and exploration affected your destination? Are there any negative impacts?

How We Express Ourselves
In this year-long unit we are exploring how cultures express their creativity. Some things you can discuss with your child over the break areAre you celebrating anything over the break? What do you do that is special? What traditions do you have? What does your family or culture value?

Dear Parents,

This week I sent home a Holiday Celebration homework sheet to collect information about any winter festivals your family celebrates. Thank you to the families that have returned this sheet. If your child has not completed yet please  complete and return this sheet by the 9th December so we can use in class.

If any parent would like to come and share a short explanation of a particular festival that is celebrated in the winter break please let me know and I can arrange a time in our morning (8.10 -8.30) or afternoon (3.10 -3.30) meeting times.

As part of our Digital Citizenship unit we participated in writing a story with 5 classes from around the world. This week the tale was completed 7 weeks after it was started and was uploaded to youtube. Click on this link to enjoy our story. I wonder if you can guess which part 2A wrote?
