Welcome 5B Community
5B’s Essential Agreements
‘How we Express Ourselves’ UOI Identity
As we come to the end of our ‘Identity’ UOI students are putting their knowledge to the test by crafting an item that will show who they are at this point in time. They have worked on their summative planning sheet to identify artifact ideas, parts of their identity that are most important to them and factors that have influenced their identity. We are looking forward to sharing these with other G5 students next week.
Back to School Night
Thank you to the families that attending this important evening. It was a pleasure getting to know you and spend time sharing what the year ahead looks like for your child. I have attached the slideshow in PDF form for you to view and use any of the links.
5B are continuing to identify daily community focuses and working out ways that we can achieve these each day.
Tuesday – Empathy – Lots of discussion for 5B about how to continue to develop this attitude.
Wednesday – Commitment – Never give up, share words of encouragement to get others to keep going.
Thursday – Enthusiasm – Maintain high energy and interest when learning something new or developing a skill.
Friday – Reflection – What went well for me this week? What do I need to practice more of?
G5 Overnight Excursion (Camp)
By now you should have received the excursion package. These are important documents that require careful reading.
We do our best to provide support for all students, especially those who have not stayed away, overnight, from family. The hardest part for many students is the build-up and the fear of the unknown so Mr Dylan (G5 councillor) will be speaking with all students early next week about how he will promote/offer additional lunch/recess drop-in session for children who would like opportunities to mentally prepare themselves for camp, talk with their friends and normalise their feelings of nervousness and anticipation. Mr Dylan will also work on a case by case basis for children with high levels of anxiety over the coming weeks leading up to camp.
The teachers and other faculty members attending camp have your child’s best interests at heart and are very experienced in understanding the range of social and emotional needs children have.
If you have any concerns, please contact me directly, as I am here to support you and your child with this new experience.
