Please click on the link below to view the book we made about the morning.

Vietnamese Breakfast book

This week we have worked on the formation of the letter a and the letter s. We have explored some of the sounds these letters make. We have enjoyed learning a poem about the days of the week. Ms Diep and I have been very impressed with how sensible and responsible the whole class has been during swimming sessions. Here are some photos from this week’s lessons.

Sticky rice with green bean or black bean or peanuts. And rice rolls with vegetables and pork. We hope all the children will be risk takers and try something new. If you are interested in sharing food from your culture with our class, please contact me to organise a time that suits.

                                                 Mystery Reader

Mystery Reader is an important and loved part of the K2 program. It involves parents and family members coming to school to read a story to the class.  As our students are at the beginning of their reading journey, it is lovely for them to see a variety of different people reading books they enjoy. It is especially wonderful for the children to experience books in a variety of languages.  Please click on this link to view and add your name to the mystery reader signup form. If Wednesday does not work for you, email me and we will organise another time.

This week we had our first mystery reader of the year, Nikhil in Grade 1 (K2D last year).  He read as a book called ‘Oi Frog’ which all the children really enjoyed.

Happy Autumn Moon Festival!

Yesterday we enjoyed celebrating the Autumn Moon Festival. We learned about the traditions of this holiday through a performance from the Upper Elementary.  We tasted some of the traditional foods and painted beautiful dragon heads.  Thank you for sending your child to school in their Ao Dai – they all looked very beautiful.

Ducklings
This week we were very lucky to have another visit from Grade 6’s ducklings. The children were surprised to see how much the ducklings had grown.  They looked at the ducklings very closely, like scientists, and made careful drawings from their observations.  They then helped each other improve their drawings by suggesting ways to make the representation more exact.

Our Families Are Part of Our Identity

This week the children have been sharing information about their families with the class. Please ask your child to tell you about another child in the class who has the same number of people in their family.

Class Parent

I am delighted to announce that Memory Tchale, Dali’s Mum will be our class parent this year. Thank you, Memory.

Have a relaxing weekend,

Emily

This week we started working on the first unit of inquiry for the year, Who We Are.  We started by looking at the word identity and discussing its meaning.  We sang songs about individuality, and what makes each person unique.  Each day, teachers from our ECC community have shared information about themselves during our morning meeting..

Happy Birthday Dali!
