December 6th

Dear Parents,

This week we continued to focus on creativity.  We also explored what it means to be a scientist.  We enjoyed a book called “It Might be an Apple” and got creative afterwards exploring our ideas about what else apples “might” be.  We worked on observations – looking slowly and carefully at something and drawing exactly what we see.  On Thursday we had a great time in the MS Science Lab with Ms. Kate.  Continuing our learning about the right to clean water, we collected water samples from a few different places in the school and examined them under a microscope.  What did we observe? How do scientists learn? Mr. C, our Technology & Innovation Coach, helped us to start a project making a collection of boxes to use in the classroom.

At the assembly on Thursday we got a sneak peak at this weekend’s Grade 2/3 performance of Artistocats.  We also enjoyed a small concert of Christmas music performed by the Grade 5s.

Reminder – Ms. Charla’s absence:

I had some unexpected news from home and, unfortunately, I need to go to Canada this weekend. This means that I will be absent the week of December 9th-13th. The children will be well taken care of by Ms. Nhung, the rest of the Discovery and K1 Teaching Team, and a supply teacher. Please contact the office with any important information or changes to your child’s routine.  Thank you for your understanding.
