Questions to ask your child:

  • Describe what it means to be in the Green, Yellow, Blue or Red ‘Zones.’ When are you in those zones? How do you change zones?
  • What are important features of graphs?
  • How do we make sense of information when solving problems?
  • How are the SDG’s related to each other?
  • What is a ‘teaspoon of change’ that we, as a family, can do together to make a difference?
  • What items were on your list of reasons why Earth is special (and shouldn’t be ‘cleared’)? —This is in reference to Sputnik’s Guide to Life on Earth?
  • What are some things that impact animals and the environment? Which of those are caused by humans and which are natural? Which are positive and which are negative?
  • What books have you read this week?
  • What books have Ms. Jenny read to you?
  • Have you changed your reading book this week? What books have you checked out from the library! (Parents, this is part of their weekly reading menu expectations….if your child is not bringing home books, please let me know!
  • What learner profile do you think you have shown most this week? Which one do you want to show more often?
  • What did you make your graph about? What did you do well? What could you improve? What did you learn about making bar graphs?
  • What was your favorite part of UN Day? What does UN Day mean to you?
  • What do you know about the United Nations?

  • What animal have you chosen to do your animal report on? How is the research going? What sources are you using so far?
  • What math games have you played this week? How do you modify them to make them challenging, but not TOO challenging.
  • What books have you read this week?
  • What books has Ms. Jenny read to you?
  • Have you changed your reading book this week? What books have you checked out from the library! (Parents, this is part of their weekly reading menu expectations….if your child is not bringing home books, please let me know!
  • What have you discovered about working with odd and even numbers?  (even + even, odd + odd, even + odd , even – even, odd – odd, even – odd, odd – even )
  • What learner profile do you think you have shown most this week? Which one do you want to show more often?
  • When you played the Ladder Game in math, how many digits did you work with and why?
  • What are possessive nouns? How do you know a noun is possessive? Prove it in a sentence.
  • How do you make a tote bag out of a T-shirt? Do you feel prepared to teach others? If not, how can I help you feel more confident?
  • How does making tote bags out of T-shirts support the SDG’s?
  • What is the Fibonacci Sequence and where can I find it? Prove it to me!

  •  A Plastic Ocean Movie, Tuesday, November 27th @ 5.00pm (running time – 1 hour 42 minutes)
    What:  FREE community screening
    Who:  UNIS Hanoi students, families, teachers – 7 years +
    Where:  Theatre, Centre for Arts, B10
    Why:  To raise awareness of the issue of pollution being created by single use plastics and what we can do to help
    Theatre will open at 4.50pm – free seating.
  • UN Day, November 30th
    Please plan to join us for this amazing celebration…it is not to be missed! Don’t forget to wear something that represents your country!

Reminders: 

***Please have your child bring an old T-shirt to school by next Wednesday. We will be recycling old T-shirts into handbags as an activity for UN week. G3’s will learn this next week and teach others the following week. Bigger shirts work best.
