Dear ES Families,
We are incredibly excited to present “Seussical Jr”, our Grades 4 & 5 production, next Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 16th – 18th May. Enjoy seeing all of your favourite Dr Seuss characters come to life in a hilarious musical adventure.
Tickets are on sale in the Centre for Arts, and are selling fast. Our Elementary productions showcase our commitment to developing a high quality performing arts programme here at UNIS Hanoi.
A preview performance of “Seussical Jr.” was performed on our ES assemblies yesterday – ask your children to tell you about it.
Don’t miss this opportunity to support our young performers and enjoy a great theatre experience with your family.
Elementary School Principal
UNIS Hanoi Elementary School is pleased to announce our second ES Junior Musical Production. The musical will be Magic Tree House: Pirates Past Noon KIDS. This is open to Grades 2 and 3 students ONLY and the Cast and Chorus will be selected on an audition basis. We will be taking a maximum of 50 students. We will be holding auditions the week of Wednesday, August 29th – Friday, August 31st and again on Tuesday, September 4th – Thursday, September 6th. All auditions will be held during lunch recess, not after school. Students will need to sign up for an audition slot outside Ms. Noor’s room (B10-106). Sign ups will begin on Tuesday, August 21st and the sign ups will be closed on Friday, August 24th at 4pm. There will be no sign ups allowed after that day.
- Grade 2 students will need to sign up for an audition slot between 11:15am – 11:35am
- Grades 3 students will need sign up for an audition slot between 11:35am – 12:00pm
The production dates will be:
Saturday, December 8th & Sunday, December 9th, 2018
For the auditions, students will be required to sing a song of their choice (without any background music) that preferably shows their dramatic side. We may also ask them to read a couple of lines from the script of Magic Tree House: Pirates Past Noon KIDS. The audition will take approximately 5 minutes.
Auditions will be held during lunch time, from Wednesday, August 29th – Friday, August 31st and again on Tuesday, September 4th – Thursday, September 6th. Students wishing to participate in this year’s production will need to sign up on the audition sign up sheets posted outside Ms. Noor’s classroom (B10-106) starting Tuesday, August 21st. Please tell your child to think carefully about which day is best to sign up for, as sign ups will end on August 24th at 4pm (and will be on a first come, first serve basis) and auditions will end on September 6th. Students are expected to be on time and ready to go for their selected audition slot. Should they miss their audition without prior notification, there will not be an opportunity to reschedule. The cast list will be emailed to all parents of children who audition on the evening of Thursday, September 6th so that those students selected know to come to the first rehearsal on Friday, September 7th.
Rehearsals will be every Monday and Friday afternoon from 3:30-4:30pm starting Friday, September 7th until Friday, December 7th. There will also be three Saturday rehearsals on Saturday, November 17th from 12-4pm, Saturday, November 24th from 12-4pm and Saturday, December 1st from 12-4pm. Students participating in the production are expected to attend all rehearsals every Monday and Friday afternoons, and on those Saturday’s. Students involved in this production MUST be present on both production dates – no exceptions. Please be aware that involvement in this production is a huge commitment, and therefore students selected in this production will not be able to participate in any other ASA or Co-Curricular activity on those rehearsal days.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. We are really looking forward to this year’s exciting production!
