Promoting Inclusion in Vietnam

On Monday 23rd September over 25 professionals and educators from across Vietnam gathered at Hanoi International School for a day of networking, visioning and momentum-building.

Their purpose was to come together to establish a Vietnam Chapter of SENIA: the Special Education Network & Inclusion Association. SENIA’s mission is to advocate for resources and support for differently abled students.

Among the attendees were UNIS Hanoi faculty; Dylan Meikle (ES Counsellor, who has been serving as a founding co-chair), Lindsey Tate (ES Learning Support) and Lee Cassidy (D-12 School Psychologist).

In the final session of the day, nominations were accepted for the inaugural SENIA Vietnam Board. Importantly, the group that met on Monday established a shared vision that included a caregiver/parent representative from the community on the Board. As such, in the near future parent information sessions, and networking events, will hopefully be developed by this SENIA group.

We look forward to the continued work of the SENIA Vietnam chapter, and increasing connections between schools, professionals, service providers and community groups. To read more about SENIA, visit:
