We are beginning our new Unit of Travel There or Not. We will be able to understand

Explorations and travels reflect personal values.

Inquiry into:

– Features of travel locations, include sites and cultures (form)

– Specific features you look for in travel (Perspective)

– Actions we take to save the sites for the future. (Responsibility)

At the end of the Unit, students will be able to describe the places they traveled or would like to travel, and what actions we can take.

Completion of Unit of We are all Connected

We have wrapped up our Unit of We are all connected, by completing our summative assessment. We invited some Chinese native students and adults to talk to us to get to know the personal information, hobbies, pets, the weather of our countries and some cultures of our countries. We prepared dumplings for our lunch and report what we knew about the guests. Please see detail learning on students’ personal school blog.

This year Grade 5 have Chinese Mandarin classes three times a week. They are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Here are the units that we are going to explore throughout the year:
· We are connected
· Celebrations: Moon festival, Chinese New Year and other Festivals
· Actions to protect our enviornment
· Community

We have started our learning about the first unit. Students are inquiring into how communicating in another language help us to be connected with a wider community. At the end of the unit, students will have a purposeful conversation with some of ES Chinese native speaker students

This year Grade 4 have Chinese Mandarin classes three times a week. They are on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Here are the units that we are going to explore throughout the year:
· My Routine and Hobbies
· Celebrations: Moon festival, Chinese New Year and other Festivals
· Healthy Choices
· Travel to the heritage sites
We are now focusing on the Chinese Pinyin which is a phonic tool, also some basic strokes writing. We will soon started our unit about my Routine and hobbies.

We have started our learning about our school. Students are expressing what they do and what UNIS have. At the end of the unit, students will produce a brochure/poster for the Chinese family who is interested in joining UNIS. It will provide the basic and necessary information about UNIS.

· Healthy Choices on Food and Drinks
· Celebrations: Moon festival, Chinese New Year and other Festivals
· Chinese Poems and Rythmes
· Animals, Plants and Me

We have started our learning about making choices on food and drinks. Students are expressing what food and drinks they like and dislike, also providing the reasons. At the end of the unit, students will make a placemat with their healthy choices. They will be able to bring it home and share with you.
