Welcome to the G5 EAL blog space.
During the year, you will find at this site photos of student work and activities in the classroom, suggestions for supporting your child, and information on EAL and the curriculum.
My name is Ms. Kristi and I am the EAL teacher for Grade 5. This is my second year teaching at UNIS. I have been a teacher for over 20 years. Prior to Hanoi, I have lived and taught in Kenya, India, the United States, China and Mauritania.
There are three levels of EAL at UNIS: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. At the moment, we are busy making sure all students are in the best level to suit their language learning needs.
I will be working with your children, both in the EAL classroom and in each of the homerooms. All EAL students will spend time with me each week working on language structures and vocabulary to help them gain confidence and improve their ability in all the main skill areas of reading, speaking, listening and writing.
I look forward to working together with you, your children, and the other UNIS teachers to help EAL students gain access to the curriculum to the best of their ability while improving their command of English. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss anything about your child’s learning of English. My email address: firstname.lastname@example.org
I’m also looking forward to meeting you all at the Back to School Night, September 7.
